Finding Help for Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and Family Members

Adults with I/DD in Wisconsin may qualify for a variety of programs, including Family Care, IRIS, county waivers,  BadgerCare, and mental health programs. Eligibility for programs is generally determined by what is called the Functional Screen tool. Through these programs, people may receive medical care, employment support, personal care, transportation, day activities, and other benefits.

The Art of Storytelling

Did you know stories impact people in a way that statistics don’t? Last year The Arc Wisconsin started a project called The Art of Storytelling.

Self-advocates Sydney Badeau and Nathaniel Lentz co-taught a class called The Art of Storytelling, which was funded by a grant from the Wispact Foundation. We had a total of 15 self-advocates participate and learn how to tell their stories, and some began telling their stories to legislators and people of power.

We have videos we have made based on stories that self-advocates have created that will be shared on this webpage.

Keep checking back for more information and videos!
